North Texas Quilt Festival – Arlington 2017
If you were out and about over the weekend, you might have visited the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Arlington, Texas. This Quilt Festival had a lot to offer.
This is another event that we have never attended, so decided to check it off our list. There was plenty to do from the quilt show(s), lectures and booths – there sure was a lot to do.
Quilt Remix Display
The first display was the Quilt Remix: Vintage Pattern, Modern Twist presented by QNNTV. com
Below is a gallery of some of the images I took at this display. Unfortunately, this was the one place in the show I was not allowed to use flash. I am not sure why, but I did my best!
There were also a couple other issues with the way quilts were displayed that made viewing a bit more difficult:
- There were strapping barriers in front of all the quilts which made photos difficult. You will see many of the images have the barrier tape across them. This was unavoidable.
- The other issue made viewing a quilt in its entirety very problematic. Many quilts overlapped each other which meant there were areas of a quilt that we just could not see. Also, image composition suffered greatly.
Time for the show
It was now time to look at all the show quilts. This is one of my favorite parts of any show/expo. Below is a gallery of quilts that we particularly loved at the Quilt Expo. I will say that this event had so many more quilts I loved than I have seen in a long time. There were loads of talent exhibited here!
Some Special Quilts:
There are always those special quilts that I just fall in love with. First of all, there is one that is close to any Grandparent/Quilter as it recognizes the contributions of our grandchildren. Visit the creator of this fun quilt at her Blog Here .
Some other quilts that made us smile are below:
It is also wonderful each time we get to visit with vendors old and new. Sandy, from Sandy’s Quilt Shop in Joshua TX was here.
The nice folks at Sew it Up Bernina were also here helping folks – and while I really wanted a picture of one of the exhibitors, I promised not to!
Richland Sewing Center/Brother had a nice large booth and even welcomed us with open arms!
There were also some great folks representing local guilds. The Fort Worth Modern Quilt Guild ladies were more than happy to put on a smile!
So, there you have it, another Quilt Show/Expo and another fine day to pet some fabric and meet with great folks.
What did you do last weekend?
